You do not need to know how to draw

This is not an art class. We are not asking whether a drawing looks realistic. We ask one question:

Can another person see what you are thinking?

Important judgement often stays inside your head: what you noticed, what you ignored, what you believe is connected, and where the risk might be. Sketching leaves those choices on paper, where they can be discussed and improved.

Four stages

  1. Start without fear — put a thought on paper
  2. Build a visual language — use shapes, features, people, and movement
  3. Structure a page — use hierarchy, space, containers, and layouts
  4. Explain clearly — use relationships, time, process, metaphor, and story

Write this in the centre of a landscape sheet:

Something I am thinking about is __.

Fill the blank and draw a box around the sentence. You have already started visual thinking.
